Yes, the Kensington StudioDock iPad Docking Station comes with a Kensington security slot, providing an additional layer of security for your iPad while it is docked.

Widgets, multitasking improvements, centered app windows, QuickNote, physical keyboard shortcuts, the app Shelf, Swift Playgrounds app creation, and — soon — Universal Control have all become available. and AirPod charging (up to 5W), as well as optional charging for Apple Watch up to 5W (K34032WW, sold separately - coming mid-2021). All they ever care about are functionally counter-productive cosmetic changes on surface and trying to "hide as much as possible from direct access to users". Actual Ethernet speeds may vary depending on, but not limited to, Internet bandwidth, Ethernet cables, network switches, and the hardware and firmware performance of the host computer. There are definitely more affordable docking stations for iPads out there, but to be fair, those don’t come with the list of extra features the StudioDock offers, including a stand for the iPad.Kensington says the StudioDock works with all iPad Pro models including the 2021 11-inch iPad Pro, but strangely not the 2021 12. On a notebook/macbook you can just open Bridge/Adobe Camera RAW / Lightroom / Capture one in a folder, view and edit ALL RAWs or other files and the changes are synced immediately in the box. Apple ecosystem charging includes Qi wireless iPhone and AirPod charging, as well as optional charging for Apple Watch (K34032WW, sold separately) and the iPad itself. Macro is a full-frame L-mount lens that's designed to be a medium telephoto, portrait and macro lens all-in-one.

You can also tilt your iPad, and this isn't just a minor tilt either, you can keep going until your iPad is flat, or even go further. The experience using external storage within third-party applications is a bit of a mess, but that's up to the developers to add proper external drive support. Kensington’s StudioDock is a unique docking station many iPad Pro and iPad Air users will be delighted with, but is it a true desktop setup replacement or is it more inclined to be a handy second-screen?The station is also capable of outputting 4K (3840 x 2160 resolution) at 60Hz, meaning it can support one 4K monitor. Even if you aren’t using a bunch of accessories, the StudioDock is more comfortable to use at a desk than a laptop simply because it raises the display to a better angle. Some days I enjoy the more minimal, distraction-free workflow of the iPad while some days it's nice to have a larger screen and more flexible OS. The tablet slides into place easily, there are no unsightly tabs holding it there either, just a subtle lip and a clip over the USB Type-C charger.

To that end, it not only lives up to its specifications but surpasses my expectations, even as someone who came into this review with fairly high standards. A representative for Kensington confirmed the news to The Verge, saying it’s because the new iPad Pro is 0. Whether it's connecting Scar from The Lion King to two-factor authentication or turning his love for gadgets into a fabricated rap battle from 8 Mile, he believes there’s always a quirky spin to be made. That said, I do things with my iPad, that are nearly impossible with my laptop and not possible on the iMac. No, it won’t fix the inherent limitations of Apple’s iPadOS, but the StudioDock will ensure you can make the most of everything iPadOS and the hardware has to offer.

It’s absolutely not going anywhere once it’s on the bracket, so don’t worry about it breaking free unexpectedly. A few months ago I bought an M1 Mac Mini, which is an impressive piece of hardware, but I must say that file management is probably a big reason Apple hasn't made many inroads into the business market. The StudioDock works really well in the kitchen, where the raised platform keeps the tablet away from harm, and in the living roo, ,where the angled bracket minimized reflections on the screen. This might not be a problem for those under 6ft tall, but I stand at 6’2" and if I’m sitting, using the StudioDock on the same surface that my keyboard is on, I’m still looking down at my iPad’s screen. If you want to use your iPad for drawing then you may find that the StudioDock provides you with a better drawing angle than you'd get from other stands, or with the Magic Keyboard alone.
