About this deal

Illicit Desires is a perfect mix of what I love; self destructive behavior, secrets, turmoil, adversity as well as vulnerability, unconditional love, forgiveness, found family, support and SCORCHING hot chemistry. Art became a public commodity, no longer exclusively reserved for the church, royalty, and the exceptionally wealthy. This creative woman has a knack for surprising me in the best way, always coming up with intriguing ideas that get me hooked. In Much Ado About Nothing the plot to bring Beatrice and Benedick together is hatched to fill up the time between betrothal and marriage, while in Measure for Measure the bed-trick serves to consummate the long-deferred union of Angelo and Mariana.

Until one night when a drunk idiot at my family’s bar decides to put his hand on me, and Nick’s possessive streak gets pushed to the limit. The only reason I was annoyed with him is because he waited to break up with her literally the last second, when Crew realized what was going on. The confusion, the anguish and eventually the acceptance and desperate desire that Adrian feels for his twin is an emotional roller coaster. So dull and generic characters in this one, their interactions were so boring and the writing didn't help, it felt so juvenile and amateurish, it wasn't that noticeable in the previous book but maybe because i just read that one first. sigh* I wanted Crew to get better but as much as his pain broke my heart, I had to go through big feelings of frustration with him.Fantasies become nearly tangible, depicting pleasure at the highest level of saturation almost to the point of gluttony.

What was once a loving relationship between twins becomes a battle ground where Adrian is desperately trying to make his twin admit she loves him too and where Lily fights her feelings and pray for things to go back to normal. Like the Dutch paintings of flower bouquets, modern porn films bring fantasies to life by constructing imagined sexual scenarios which appeal to the desires of the audience and idealize the act of sex. The fact that they are brother and sister makes their relationship extremely difficult and full of emotions. The still life is a fantasy of reality, and its visual realism combined with the knowledge of its unattainability exacerbates the desire and pleasure of the viewer. Hippolyta is a captive bride, as Theseus boasts: ‘I wooed thee with my sword,/ And won thy love doing thee injuries. The words were popping off the page and I ate them all up like it was my last meal (which it sort of was.

Filmmakers of pornography create work which appeals to the desires and fantasies of the consumers, just as the Dutch painters created impossible still life paintings of objects of great luxury and pleasure for people in the Netherlands. I knew going into this that it would be hard core because Ashley just knows how to tap into your soul, she finds emotions in you that you didn’t know existed! Illicit Desires is at times a challenging read, but the the angsty parts are worth it due to the wonderful HEA that is so well earned. I’m sorry to say this but, while I understand the reasoning behind the willingness to make Adrian more likable, I didn’t like that the author managed doing that by sacrificing the credibility of the other main character, namely Lily.

The books in this series are filled with all the forbidden, swoony, steamy feels you want and a guaranteed Happily Ever After! Just like in the previous books, friendship is as important as the relationship between the main characters, and it's something I really liked. Even though we look down on this in life, it still opens your eyes to what they go through when someone has the feelings for that person who is taboo. By this, what I mean is, Lily does not really have any further argument nor any other ‘trick’ than saying in the simplest form ‘it’s wrong it’s wrong and it’s wrong’ and of course denial and of course ‘I’m really trying to understand why he is the way he is’. The repetitions of the word ‘dote’ and images of sight are used sustainedly to ridicule the folly of falling in love with outward appearances.
