About this deal

Don and Lloyd quickly begin to suspect that Widmark and fellow German Laurence Dane are after the missing Nazi gold. The three brothers are more skilled at extreme sports than you'd expect, and their confident cold weather performance is impressive.

That the actual explanation and bad guys were such a cliché by that stage did little to endear the film to viewers in 1979, but now they come across as staples of the sort of thriller that you can waste time with on the small screen, only with perhaps more novelty thanks to it being a more relatively modern project, and in colour to boot. Avalanches, explosions, falling radio towers and plenty of carnage lie in wait for Donald and Lloyd as they attempt to discover the whereabouts of the gold and just who is behind the insanity of it all.Christopher Lee, Richard Widmark and Vanessa Redgrave give their European accents a whirl (which, in Widmark’s case, is oddly transfixing). It has all the Maclean obsessions: Spies, betrayal, explosions, inhospitable terrain, snow, and loads of mystery and murder. One day he went on a location scout up the mountain in a helicopter with Sharp, and three others and they were stuck for four days due to bad weather without food or proper clothing; they survived by staying in the helicopter and by eating the pilot's lunch over several days. We're delighted to be working on an international picture", said second unit director Alan Simmonds.

Snell said "He complained of no continuity" with the previous films "but with me he's close to being a partner.

Bear Island is a 1979 British Canadian adventure movie directed by Don Sharp and based on the 1971 novel of the same name by Alastair MacLean. Despite a better cast than most Alistair MacLean adaptations and an interesting Arctic story about Cold War struggles to dominate the globe by weather control, this fast becomes a dodo with such elements as a former U-Boat base, most of the cast's suspiciously Nazi pasts, and an array of Teutonic accents clearly destined to play a large part in the story. I think if we cut some of the character interaction and just played it for speed and thrills it might have made more money. Except for Cannon’s little-seen RIVER OF DEATH, released to a handful of theaters in 1989, BEAR ISLAND was the last adaptation of an Alistair MacLean novel to play on the big screen.

K. which is rather ridiculous considering that this is a made in Canada feature though I’m glad I did as it was fun to check it out after far too many years. The next morning, Lansing and Lindquist head out from the base, but are followed by Jungbeck and Heyter who have been released by Zelda.

Three brothers go to remote Bear Island (Bjørnøya) in the Barents Sea to find the perfect wave; travelling with a surfboard, a snowboard, a paraglider and food found in supermarket trash canisters back home in Norway. They transform the challenging nature of Bear Island into their own playground, finding ice-cold waves and precipitous slopes.

This allows you to pick a movie, episode or complete season to be given as a gift to a lucky recipient. For a certain kind of guy, that’s more than enough reason to tune in, but there’s lots more going on. Bear Island sags in the mid-section, but pulls itself together for a fairly dramatic race and chase finale from Vic Armstrong that pays off in a final unmasking of the no-gooder.The true adventures of the world's greatest stuntman : my life as Indiana Jones, James Bond, Superman and other movie heroes. While lying in wait for his pursuers, Lansing realises that Hartman has given him an unloaded rifle and that he must be the mysterious Zelda. We assume he’s an American though of course he’s another real life Canadian export to the movie world.
